I was fortunate
indeed to have been able to live in Hawaii for a period of four years.
The Hawaiian Islands are truly Heaven on Earth, and the people there
are very warm and friendly. The Aloha spirt of welcome is pervasive
in the culture, and I felt right at home from the beginning.
During my time in
the islands, I specialized in pastel portraits, and had my studio on
the grounds of the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. The portrait
business kept me extremely busy, so ironically it was not until I returned
to California that I found myself with the time to paint some of the
Hawaiian landscapes that you see here. These paintings are based on
the many photographs I took while I lived in the islands.
