I love painting
still lifes! It is a challenge to arrange the elements into a pleasing
composition, to get the lighting just right, to accentuate the volume
and three dimensional forms of the objects I've chosen to paint. The
contrast between the plush texture of rich velvet drapery against the
crisp glossy skin of a ripe red apple excites my artist's eye!
I particularly enjoy
capturing the feeling of sunlight filtering through the transluscent
petals of flowers in the garden, so that it seems as if the blossom
is glowing form within!
