In the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, just north of Los Angeles is the quiet little town of La Canada. One of my favorite locations for plein air painting is beautiful Descanso Gardens, located just minutes from the Angeles Crest Highway and the Angeles National Forest in La Canada.
Springtime at Descanso finds the roses in full bloom, and their perfume fills the air! The graceful arched Victorian Gazebo provides an elegant focal point for a plein air painter! I was drawn to the contrast between the delicate creamy white climing roses entwined against the deep black wrought iron trellises.
