A sunny border of golden California Poppies leads the way to a sparkling fountain, a typical feature of early California Mission gardens. Grape vines adorn a rustic adobe collonade which encircles the courtyard and provides shaded seating where one can relax and enjoy the warm California sunshine.

This "mission" courtyard is actually located at Descanso Gardens in La Canada, California, a botanical park operated by Los Angeles County, and one of my favorite locations for plein-air painting.
